Congratulations Lily Rigg and Sonny Li, on their selection in the Vic. Team 2, to represent Victoria at the Australian Under 15 Carnival, incorporating the Val Nesbitt Trophy and the Under 15 Australian Championships, which will be held in Perth from the 2nd - 8th October.

Vic Handley pased away peacefully last week.

Vic was Vice President of WSBA from 1966 - 1980, a founding member of the Umpires Association and a Life Member of WSBA.

We extend our sympathy to his daughter, Rita and her family, on their loss.

WSBA's Spring Season Pennant begins on Monday 18th July. The Fixture is available now.

Please read the fixture carefully as there are a number of byes each week.

The Byes for Round 1 are as follows:-

Monday - A Reserve Grade - Keilor East Titans & Keilor East Troopers

Tuesday - A Grade - Mason Street Super Heavyweights

Tuesday - B1 Grade - Mason Street Eagles

Ann-Louise has been named as Captain of the Victorian Team to compete in the Ede Clendinnen Shield.

Conratulations Ann!

WSBA congratulates Erin Carroll and Ben Walklate who have recently announced their engagement.

We wish them many years of happiness together.

Congratulations to these WSBA players on their performance in the 2011 Victorian Graded Tournament which was held at MSAC on the 2nd & 3rd July.

It is great to see so many WSBA players participating and being joined by partners from another Association.

The WSBA Community mourns the loss of Harold and we extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Geeta and family.

Harold has been a member of Keilor East since 1992, a regular on Saturday afternoons and a very competitive C Grade player in recent years.

WSBA thanks the people who tried to assist Harold before the paramedics arrived.

Harold's Funeral will be held on Wednesday 29th June at 2.00pm at Fawkner Memorial Park.

What a great four days of Badminton.

Thanks to Peter Griffin, our Referee, Sandra David, Assistant Referee for the International and Referee for the Altona Graded, Umpires and Line Judges and to all the players who participated.

Special thanks to WSBA staff and volunteers, Ron, Mary, Pauline and Pat, who assisted with transporting players to and from the airport and the round trip from the stadium to Quest Apartments.

Congratulations to all Winners and Runners Up and to Leanne Choo and Glenn Warfe who shared the CMWong Trophy for the best performed player in the International Event, both were winners in their Doubles events and together in the Mixed Doubles.

The 2011 Whyte Trophy, between Australia & New Zealand will be held at the Altona Badminton Centre, commencing at 2.00pm.

The 2011 Li Ning Sunlight Altona International will begin at 9.00am on Friday 10th June. The Draw can be found via this link:-  PLEASE NOTE THE MIXED DOUBLES WAS REDRAWN UNDER REGULATION 15.3.1 ON WEDNESDAY 8TH JUNE AT 18.00 HOURS.

The 2011 Altona Graded will begin at 9.00am on Saturday 11th June for A Grade only.

B & C Grades will begin at 9.00am on Sunday and D Grade at 9.00am on Monday, with Mens and Womens Singles.The Draw for the Graded events can be found via this link:-
